Overview
Roman blinds offer a softer more luxurious look than some other blinds and can be made from any soft fabric which enables you to create a Roman blind which will fit with virtually any interior design you may have.
Roman blinds can be manufactured without any lining, with a standard lining, self lining or with a blackout lining which then makes them ideal for bedrooms. They can also be manufactured with borders, shaped bottoms or eyelets which further allows you to create your individual style.
Fabrics
Unlike other blinds such as Vertical, Roller, Panel and Pleated, Roman blinds are manufactured using curtain type fabrics. We can offer an extensive range of plain, striped, patterned and specialist Roman blind fabrics but we can also manufacture Roman blinds using your own fabric. This means that your Roman blinds can be made to match your curtains, bedspreads, cushion covers, furniture and anything else that is covered or made from a soft fabric.
LIning can be the same as the face fabric, standard lining in any colour of your choice or it can be blackout.
For commercial and contract customers, we can also manufacture Roman blinds that are flame retardent.
Operation
Operation of Roman blinds is either by means of
- a continuous beaded cord loop fitted to one end of the roman blind cassette headrail which allows very precise control of the positioning of the fabric.
- a cord rasie/lower system with a cord lock in the headrail, the same as the raise/lower operation of a venetian blind. This is a very direct method of operation and allows trhe blind to be raised and lowered very quickly.
- a cord pull which is tied off to a cleat attached to either the window frame or a wall. This is the traditional method of operating Roman blinds and allows the cord to be hidden out of sight..
- Electric operation by means of remote control either hand held or from a wall switch. Electric operation of Roman blinds can be each blind operating individually, all blinds operating as a group or a combination of both individual and group control.
